Welcome to Strong Roots Society
A Place for growing deep roots, building meaningful lives and creating strong foundations
Whether you found your way here through curiosity, family or personal connections or simply a desire to read stories of a real family going through real challenges and doing it together.
Welcome!
Strong Roots Society was created as a space to explore what it means to live intentionally and stay rooted in the things that matter most.
This is where I'll share:
At its core, Strong Roots Society is about the idea that strong things grow slowly and with care, family roots and grow deep.
I believe a good life isn't build overnight. Its built in the quiet moments, daily choices, family relationships and the courage to keep growing through each season of life.
This space is still growing -- just like all of us
Some post may feel thoughtful and reflective, others may be practical, creative, messy and hopeful. That's intentional, I want this to feel real, welcoming and grounded.
A Note From Me
This family living situation is unique – four generations living under one roof. From 94 years old to a 7 month old, the seasons of life happening under one roof is vastly different. Its a chaotic, beautiful, heartwarming and frustrating mess that is our lives all mingled into one. The spread of activities taking place at any given point at the Compound are mesmerizing. In one instant, my father could be fishing off the dock, getting ready to snag either a 3 foot gar, or a 3lb bass (and then this will decide how the rest of the day goes.). While my autistic brother is eating a pound of lunch meat hovering over the kitchen island. My grandfather is reading a book sitting in his glider on the back porch, while my son plays in his ball pit and throws all of the balls out. Grandpa giggles and the ones that roll near him he picks up and throws back around the ball pit area, he’s 50/50 for making it in. And that’s just the activities of the men of the household at any given time, wait until I get to the women! 😊
Now that we have lived together for three years, I have quite a few stories to share. Sharing trials and tribulations of moving 3 households under one roof, welcoming the 4 generation of our family, and embracing this new life has been the most eye opening, challenging and satisfying thing I’ve ever done – and I want to share that journey with you. Sharing how we grew into one strong family unit, showing you how you can be successful at caregiving and taking care of yourself. These stories and more are at the heart of building strong roots, and I hope together we can build a community that resembles a society of families dedicated to lifting each other up and supporting one another.
